Saturday 13th September

A gang of six assembled at M&FM today with John, Paul, and Mike, heading off on the line inspection to Alton, whilst Pete, Keith H, and Adrian walked to Alresford.

The afternoon's activities were somewhat varied. The Alresford linewalkers had found small stream of water flooding across the track just beyond Blake's Crossing at Ropley, indicating that the centre track drain was blocked, and so the drain busting team of John, Paul, and Mike were dispatched down the line to deal with the offending section of pipe. Keith and Adrian meanwhile travelled down to Alton on the train to check the loop points, and then on their way back to join the others at Ropley, changed a cracked fishplate on the section of line between Rookwood Lane and Bowers Grove Lane bridges.

The drain gang were successful in their endeavours, and all had a well earned ice cream from the Station shop, whilst admiring the handy work of the Building Group (the new up platform waiting shelter).
