The first task was to drop off some concrete blocks and the chimney pot to the Pway hut site, which was then followed by a trip to Heidi's in Alresford for breakfast prior to Ian, Mike, and Eddie walking to Ropley, to mark up defective rail chairs for impending replacement work later in the month. Adrian meanwhile drove to Alton to pick up Paul and Neil, who had arrived by train.
With all parties meeting up again at M&FM (and joined by Martin R), RNB6 rail fastenings and under rail pads were gathered together in readiness for replacement work to be undertaken during the course of the last two Saturdays in the month, and with the rain having subsided, a decision was made to go down to the Pway hut site in the afternoon to begin to excavate the ground for the timber walls. Fortunately the rain held off until after time was called, and with a large amount of spoil having been excavated, everyone agreed that it had been worthwhile staying for the whole day.
