Saturday 15th April

A report from our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski..................

With Easter upon us a smaller than usual gang of 5 met at M&FM for the day's activities.

Adrian C and Eddie went up the track to Alton, Brian Hi and Ian J went down the track to Alresford to do the line inspections. Corina stayed at Medstead to attach the "Point Oiling Equipment" signs to the cabinet doors and checked the locks for ease of opening. She then drove to Alton to meet Neil from the main line service. They both then oiled the point work at Alton and met Adrian and Eddie on the completion of their inspection. After breakfast in the local station cafe they travelled back to Medstead by car.

Neil and Eddie then went to Northside crossing to replace a broken fishplate which was discovered during the line inspections by Ian J and Brian Hi.

Adrian and Corina travelled on the service to Alresford, as a report had been received that there was a problem with the toilets (clearly a Pway responsibility!- Ed). When they arrived they were told it had been sorted, so travelled back to Medstead with Brian. Ian J left for work duties.

With the gang re-assembled at base and joined by Martin B (Eddie had left for a prior engagement) lunch was taken, after which it was decided to take the components of one of the new Point Oiling Equipment cabinets up to the London end of the Medstead platform to be erected.  The ground was levelled and the cabinet bolted together.

So far six cabinets have been made by Neil and the doors painted by Corina. There will be ten in total, which will be placed eventually at the ends of each Station.
