Saturday 12th August

This is the second weekend of the railways Thomas the tank engine event, which is what our younger visitors to the railway love to see.

A large number of the gang turned out at M&4M for the usual tea and biscuits. A very warm welcome was given to a new member Chris M who joined us this morning. Brian H & Martin B walked down to Alresford with  Keith H & Chris M walking up to Alton to do line inspections and point oiling.
Eddie, Martin W, John , Brian H then went down, to just past wanders curve, to change a junction plate, then went on to Northside to change a fish plate. Ian J spent time at Arleside strimming and cutting back near the P way hut.

Adrian C, Adrian N & Corina first walked from the Butts up to Alton & oiled the points. After having breakfast they walked back to the Butts were they started reclaiming more bricks from the old Butts junction signal box. Approx 70 bricks were reclaimed for use in future projects.

Neil and  Paul, joined by Keith H & Chris, spent the rest of the day starting to  rebuild the chimney at Grovesnor Hut.
