A very unsettled day greeted the gang. As it was sponsored "Walk the Line" day the gang didn't have the freedom to travel up and down the line in the Wickham trollies, however John M who was charged with manning Wickham Trolley No.2 to assist any tired or injured walkers, was able to drop them off on the Alton section to resume concrete sleeper replacement work before the walkers left Alton at 10am. A great number of members of the public ventured out on the line walk making the day a big success in very testing conditions.
The gang consisting of Adrian C, Corina, Keith H, Neil, Eddie, Adam and Brian Ha (and later joined by Steve) started in the area just shy of Chawton Heights Hut, and they managed to achieve their objective of changing 10 sleepers before John appeared in the Wickham at around 2.30pm to take them back to M&FM for a well earned cuppa. A great effort by all!
