Saturday 18th November 2017

A report from our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski and western correspondent, Jes Mania..................
A cold and overcast day greeted a cast of thousands arriving at base. After the usual brew and catch up, Brian Hi, Brian Ha, Ian J, Ian R, Adrian C , Adrian N, Corina, Neil, Eddie, John, Keith H, Chris, Adam, Pete and Martin B readied themselves for the final push to complete the sleeper changing on the Alton to Medstead section.

With the two Wickham trollies working, the gangs divided. A team of four digging out the sleeper beds and the remainder on the task of sleeper changing and filling in the beds back in. The replacement sleepers were taken from the ex Gosport track panels.
After a well earned breakfast break in the Station Café in Alton, they returned to the task in hand,

leaving Corina at Alton station to repaint bridge number 46 at the end of the platform, after which she rejoined the gang.

At lunchtime it was decided to go back to M&FM to have a cup of tea to warm up and a piece of Adam's cake.  After lunch Corina stayed back at base to tidy the concrete works, while the rest of the gang returned up the line to attend to the remaining 5 sleepers. By mid afternoon 9 sleepers had been changed, a total of 38 on the Alton to M&FM section over the course of the summer evening work parties and the previous two Saturdays.
