A cold crisp day greeted everyone. After the usual tea's etc the gang departed for the day's work.
Mark (mid week member) drove the KGT (road-railer), whilst John drove the Wickham with Adrian C, Corina, Eddie, Neil, Brian Hi, Pete and Martin B as passengers.
The gang went up to the Butts signal box where with a lot of pushing and pulling the KGT removed the old rodding tunnel lintels and pedestal supports and a railing to the west side. These are planned to be used on other projects along the railway as they are a piece of history from the building of the box.
Mark, Eddie, John and Martin B then went up to Chawton to pick up some off the replaced broken sleepers, bringing them back down to the stacking site at the Butts.
Adrian C, Corina, Pete, Brian Hi and Neil stayed at the signal box to do some more brick bashing!

What is left today
Once the sleeper gang had returned everyone went up to the Alton Station Cafe to have breakfast, picking up a sleeper on the way to replace a broken one in Alton Station.
After being fed and watered, the gangs went back up to the Butts were Adrian C , Corina , Pete and Brian Hi stayed to remove the chairs off the retrieved broken sleepers. An angle grinder had to be used as some of the nuts were seized on. They then continued with brick bashing.
The rest of the gang carried on down the line collecting broken sleepers and taking a couple of replacements out after picking up Ian R from Medstead. They bought 16 broken ones back up to the Butts to put on the pile and to have the chairs removed.
A good days work by all.
