Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th March

This report has been produced with thanks to our Southern (superior) Correspondent, the Rev. K. Bynam.

A good turn out of 12 men on Monday led to good progress being made on the timber replacement job at Alresford, with 25 timbers changed at the country end back towards the Station, complete with new ballast in the beds.

On Tuesday the gang was split, with some going back to Alresford to tidy up the ballast and replace a broken slide chair, and the others assisting a Tree Surgeon engaged in felling work in the Shrave cutting to the east of Medstead and Four Marks. The Alresford gang also managed to sort through the remaining stock of new timbers stored on the Cattle Dock, in readiness for a continuing the replacement work the following Monday.
