Unsettled weather greeted the gang of seven at M&FM early in the morning, but there was the prospect of some sunshine later on. Pete and Ian R headed off on the line inspection to Alresford, with Keith H, Mike, and John walking to Alton. Eddie and Adrian meanwhile took the company van to Winchester to pick up around 150 free bricks, which will be put to good use in the construction of the chimney on the next new Pway hut.
The re-assembled gang, optimistic that the weather would improve despite the deluge on their return to M&FM, set off for Mounters Lane on the Alton section to carry on with fishplate oiling where the mid-week gang left off last year. Their optimism was duly rewarded, and a good afternoon's work was had in mostly sunny conditions with 30 joints oiled, reaching the site of Butts Junction.
