Saturday 25th October

The second day of the Autumn Gala dawned (with a line up of engines of very little consequence and too many shiny bits!- Ed), and a gang of nine assembled at M&FM with the prospect of a good day's work in fair weather conditions.

John, Keith H, Ian R, Mike and Paul set off on the line inspection to Alton, with Eddie, Pete, Martin B, and Adrian Alresford bound. Richard and Colin from the mid-week gang had also put in an appearance, and were to spend the day photographing the trains at various locations along the line.

The return to M&FM was followed in the late morning and afternoon with the majority of the gang descending on Yew Tree Curve on the Alton section, where they began stripping and levelling the ground at the location of the next new Pway hut, together with the cutting up of the last timbers for the hut walls, and further lineside clearance. Eddie and Neil meanwhile, went to Wanders Curve to replace a cracked fishplate discovered on the earlier inspection.

A very productive day.
