While the others were relaxing in the sunshine on Swanage beach and riding the cushions, Martin B and Eddie departed from M&FM on the walk to Alton, with Martin R, Keith H, and Iain (welcome back-Ed) Alresford bound. The return to M&FM saw Keith and Martin B depart to fulfill afternoon family commitments, while the others spent the remainder of the day refurbishing RNB6 track fastenings, to build up a stock for future replacement work.

Good stuff! I too ventured onto other metals. Or would have done if they’d been laid (still a couple of miles to go)! Enjoying a walking holiday I the Cotswolds, I dropped into Broadway and popped along to see how the station was coming along. The new signal box is up and roofed and the platform edges are near completion, although the only people working that day were a survey party measuring the track bed. But don’t be disheartened by all this GWR talk. Just inside the entrance of the nearby caravan park is a LSWR 10 ton open wagon!
