From notes received from our Southern correspondent, the Hon. J.Y. Doom......
Just Eddie (oohh, my back), Brian, and John were in attendance for the 8am start at M&FM, with eight others being away in Devon for a long weekend. The line inspection to Alresford was undertaken with breakfast at the West Country Buffet. Jamie joined them at Alresford, before they returned to M&FM. In the afternoon, they undertook the line inspection to Alton, before heading back to M&FM for refreshments and then departing for home.
and from the pen of our western correspondent, Jes Mania........
Whilst
the majority of the chaps where on a package holiday to the English
Riveria, courtesy of first GREAT WESTERN, John, Brian & Eddie attended on
the railway and undertook work that as yet has to be confirmed to this
correspondent.
Meanwhile, after a days work and eager to get started this correspondent picked
up the strimming equipment. Selecting the wire attachment version, I attended to
the grass at the Arle Side hut area. One and a half hours of work saw the grass strimmed and this included the area
of the wasps nest that stuck me last time. I was also able to push out towards
the home signal and next time, with the use of the bladed strimmer I should be
able to reduce the compacted bushes, (after the flail did its work) to a more
even grass bank. The late summer evening was just stunning with much wildlife
in and around the river meadows.
