Saturday 17th September

A report by our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski

A fresh but dry morning greeted the gangs. After the usual catch up, work commenced.

Brian Hi and Neil went up line towards Alton, Matt K and Ian J went down towards Alresford to do line inspections. Brian and Neil discovered a badly injured fox just outside Medstead station. Corina and Adrian C first took it to the local wildlife hospital, but unfortunately it was too poorly to do anything, so then had to take it to the local vets to be euthanased.

Eddie, Matt W, John, Ian R and Adrian N went up the line to just outside Alton, where they started to retrieve chair bolts from the ex Gosport track panels. They were later joined by Adrian C, Brian, Matt K and Neil.

Corina meanwhile re painted mileposts 49 3/4, 50 and 50 1/4, gradient posts 100 to level, level to 60, and bridge numbers 51 and 52.
