Saturday 22nd October - The Autumn Steam Gala

A report by our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski

A very chilly but dry day greeted the gang. After the usual catch ups, the gangs divided for work.

Adrian C and Brian Hi went up line towards Alton, whilst Adrian N and Pete went down the line towards Alresford to do the line inspections. Corina also went down the line to drop off oil and oil the points at Ropley and Alresford. She then caught the service train from Medstead to Alton to replenish the oil there.

Eddie, John, and Martin W went down to just the other side of The Grosvenor Hut, to do some more digging out of sleepers, ready for chair bolt replacement work.

A look out was needed as services started early due to the Autumn Gala.

After all the walkers met back up at the base, they gathered up more tools to go down and help the digging out of sleepers.

Down at The Grosvenor hut Adrian C and Corina also attached the recently completed name plaque to the hut.

The Royal Scot

The class 33.

The Standard 4, Royal Scot and 9F down at Alresford.

A great day was enjoyed, watching the Royal Scot, Ivatt 43106, and the lines own Standard 4, Black 5, Ivatt and 9F doing a full service.
