Foggy and damp conditions greeted the gang as they arrived at M&FM with the threat of persistent light rain for the day.
Adrian C and John were booked into Ropley and Alresford signal boxes respectively for a day of signal box/frame awareness as part of their Person In Charge of Occupation course.
This left Keith's B and H, Brian H, Bill, Ian R and Adrian N to undertake the line inspections to Alton and Alresford, and Eddie, Martin W and Brian Ha to head off to Ropley in the company transport to i) drop off chair bolts requiring refurbishment in the small machine shop, and ii) to take a slow walk to Alresford to undertake a survey of sleepers, chairs and chair bolts that will need to be replaced next year.
On their return to HQ where they met back up with the linewalkers, Eddie, Martin, Adrian N and Brian's Hi and Ha spent the afternoon carrying out a similar survey on the section to Alton, leaving Keith's B and H at M&FM to process some of the logs in the stockpile into firewood.
