A report by our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski
A very foggy day greeted a gang of seven at M&FM for the day's activities.
Adrian C and Corina took the company truck up to Newbury to collect Neil and a freshly made point oiling equipment cabinet (the first of nine to be produced by Newbury Concrete Works).
Eddie and Martin W meanwhile walked towards Alresford and Keith H and Bill went up the line towards Alton to do the line inspections. Once Eddie and Martin had completed their inspection, they went to Ropley to refurbish more chair bolts in the small machine shop.
John spent the day in Ropley Signal Box learning the frame for his PICO course.
Adrian, Corina and Neil returned to base and offloaded the cabinet where they met up with Keith and Bill. Adrian, Keith and Bill then went down to the A31 embankment just outside Alresford to do more bank clearance work,
leaving Corina and Neil to go up to Alton, and then down to Ropley and Alresford to take photos of the proposed sites (Neil being the marker) for the new point oiling cabinets. They also checked and replenishing the stocks of point oil.
It was also a very busy day on the line with the Santa Special trains running.
I hope those cabinets conform to SR specification. Wouldn't want some GW sneaking in.
