Saturday 10th March
In relatively damp conditions, a gang of 8 assembled at HQ for the day's activities. Bill and Brian Hi headed off on the line inspection to Alton with Adam and Adrian C Alresford bound. This left Eddie, Chris and Martin W to check the RNB6 rail fastenings on the Alton section, and Corina and John to drive down to Ropley and then Alresford to oil and clean the pointwork (they had an ulterior motive, breakfast in the West Country Buffet!)
The return to M&FM found that the fastening gang had become the fishplate oiling gang, working their way through the up road (they managed to complete both sides through the platforms before time was called mid-afternoon).
With numbers boosted by the arrival of Neil and Paul, Brian Hi, Bill and Paul spent the afternoon litter picking in the Shrave cutting below Boyneswood bridge, and Neil and Adrian packed a rail joint at the London end of the Station.
