Adrian and Corina had an early start, taking the company vehicle to collect a coal bunker and its maker Neil from Newbury (Concrete Works). This to be located at Ropley Station once the paving works between the engine shed and platform are complete.
Buffy the guard dog was bribed with a bone to allow access!
On the way back they stopped off at Alresford to oil the pointwork and have breakfast in the station West Country Buffet.
Stopping off at Ropley to pick up some PTS forms enroute to base, the loco yard was busy preparing for the day's three train service, and preparations were being made by the station staff for the forthcoming Thomas event at Easter.
A reasonable gang meanwhile had assembled at HQ in their absence. Bill and Brian Hi set off on up the line inspection to Alton, with Ian J and Keith H Alresford bound. Eddie, Martin W, John and Pete gathered together tools and a trolley, and walked down the line into Soak cutting to carry on with fishplate oiling, and were joined in the afternoon by Ian R, Chris and Ian J.
When time was called they had oiled 3/4 mile of fishplates.
Corina and Neil collected a new door for Chawton Heights hut from Travis Perkins, with Neil then joining the oiling team, and Corina going up to the Butts Signal Box with Adrian, Bill and Brian to reclaim a few more more bricks.
The Class 33, Ivatt and the Standard 5 were the service trains of the day.
