Monday 21st and Tuesday 22nd October

Very wet and windy conditions restricted the gangs activities over the two days. On Monday, the two line inspections were carried out, with Keith B and Keith H walking to Alresford, and Richard and Colin walking to Alton. Other members erected speed restriction boards at Butts bridge in readiness for the Gala Weekend, and further scrap metal was collected from Alton.

On Tuesday, a length of broken fence was repaired in the vicinity of Mounters Lane bridge on the Alton section, causing by a falling oak tree, and Bernie and Norman went to Alresford to assess the number of timbers requiring replacement during the course of maintenance work planned for November (to replace the crossing nose on the London end pointwork). It was also found that some timbers in the pointwork at the country end of the loop would need to be replaced.
