Saturday 15th February

A gang of seven gathered at M&FM in inclement weather conditions for the day's work. The line inspections had been undertaken by the mid-week gang on the previous Monday and Tuesday, which enabled an early start to be made on the continuation of work on the new Pway hut at Alresford. While the majority of the gang headed off to site, Keith B and Keith H set off to Alton and then Ropley in the Wickham Trolley, to do a 'sweep' for fallen trees (one was found and cut up in Ropley Soak cutting).

Down at the hut site, Neil and Graham fitted the window (made by Neil himself) and an internal window board, and Adrian and John made a start on the long process of fitting the door frame, door leaf, and lock keep (Adrian had manufactured the frame and fitted the lock into the door leaf the previous Sunday).

Ian J and Martin B arrived at around 9am, and assisted Neil and Graham in their second task of the day, fixing a layer of plywood sheathing to the top of the sleeper roof in readiness for laying the felt covering, which is planned for the following Saturday. Re-joined by Keith B and Keith H after the mandatory walk to Alresford for tea and breakfast rolls, the return to site saw a general tidy up and levelling of the Ropley side of the hut, and a start made in the afternoon on the laying of the concrete slab floor inside.
