Our western correspondent, Jes Mania, reports:
The day started with a Wickham trolley line inspection.
Keith B and H, Adrian, John, Peter J, Martin R, and Eddie G went out in the Alton
direction. Thankfully no trees down, just a small slip to keep an eye on. Breakfast was taken in Alton, and returning to Medstead to
pick up this correspondent (we did consider driving past and giving a 'royal wave'- Ed.), we continued the line inspection moving through to
the site of the newest P/Way hut to start work.
Dodging the showers, and with the wind picking
up, we selected the roof timbers to go on as our main task of the day. Placing
18 of them on top of the hut, each one needed to be drilled and then pinned to
the walls. We broke for lunch in a very quiet Alresford station, before
returning to the hut to complete the pinning down of the roof. A general tidy
up of the site followed, and the day finished with some fine weather. This will
be our last use of the Wickham trolley on a Saturday as the railway returns to
running trains from next weekend. We look forward to seeing you around the
railway.
Next week should see the window and door fitted, and the roof sheathed with plywood and felted.
