Saturday 7th March

A productive day was on the cards with a large gang of nine present and correct, including new member, Tony. This allowed a team of three (Eddie, Neil, and Keith H) to make an early start on the rail pad replacement work while the others undertook the line inspections, with Keith B, Tony, and Pete heading off to Alton, and Martin W, Martin B, and Adrian Alresford bound.

When the line walkers returned to M&FM, the gang was split into two for the remainder of the morning and the afternoon, with Martin W and Tony joining the pad replacement team, and Keith B, Martin B, Pete, and Adrian departing for Chawton to continue work on the new Pway hut. By the close of play, 2 3/4 lengths of track had been re-padded ( 6 1/4 lengths to go), the rear wall of the hut had been completed, and two timbers erected on the final, Alton facing wall (two more timbers left to go to the door opening and then the roof can go on). A great effort by all!
