A report from our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski.......
With not such an early start after breakfast in the Alton station cafe, Adrian C, Martin R & Corina went down to Chawton Heights to work on the
p-way hut. Adrian had to climb through the window (unfortunately no photo
evidence was captured) to release the door which had swollen. This was then
taken off and planed down for a much better fit.
The window shield was also painted in
black and fitted, the outstanding wall cover battens were cut and fitted below the
window (to cover the gaps between the sleepers), and some sealing of the gaps on the inside was undertaken with expanding foam.
Work was stopped each time
the Santa Special trains passed to salute Bretta (Martin's wife) who was Santa’s little
helper. Unfortunately Martin at one point did miss Bretta hanging out the window
waving frantically, so repercussions may have occurred when she arrived home!!
