Saturday 2nd January

A report from our western correspondent, Jes Mania.............The first one of the year.

Today was probably the wettest day we have had for some time, with 3cm falling since Friday night, according to my rain gauge.
Seven hardy souls turned in at the usual time. Graham, Eddie and Ian J decided to walk westwards into the storm, a very uncomfortable 6 miles indeed. Thankfully no problems encountered, with Eddie and Graham picking up an important piece of equipment from Ropley for the chair replacement work starting on the 16th of January under occupation. Brian and Adrian N walked to Alton, and Adrian and Corina stayed at M&FM, where they installed some shelves in the Concrete works. They were all joined later by Neil, who was hoping to install the window on The Grosvenor hut.

Later, Ian J returned home for domestic duties, leaving Eddie and Graham to head off back down the line to Ropley to run a tap through recovered chair nuts, and the others to tidy up the Newbury Concrete Works shed and the fencing shed (Alas, the miserable weather conditions precluded any work taking place on The Grosvenor hut- Ed).

Next Saturday there will be no report as the gang will be having their annual post Christmas meal out, when they will be visiting a number of key drinking and dining establishments in Alton.

Normal service will be resumed in Saturday 16th January.
