Sunday 31st January

A report by our lady correspondent, Nora Cliski..........

A drizzly Sunday morning greeted a very small working party. This consisted of Adrian C and Corina. The first job of the day for Adrian was to undercoat the 53 3/4 mile post, which is to replace the one which had an unhappy incident with the flail a couple of years ago.

Corina 'Creocoated' some new bird boxes, which she is hoping will be occupied by feathered residents once they are fixed to the outside of the Pway huts.

They both then went on down to Ropley carriage works, where the "Whistle" boards had been taken the previous day. A top coat of paint was applied to the four boards ready for them go back out on the line next week in time for the Spring Gala.

From Ropley, they went on to Northside Crossing to measure the "Whistle" board posts to make top caps to protect them from the elements.

After a quick lunch back at Medstead, Adrian top coated the mile post (having a minor accident when kicking over the paint!) , whilst Corina cut the eight caps for the "Whistle" board posts out of brass sheet.  After a bit of mopping up of green paint it was time to leave.
