A overcast day greeted Corina and Adrian C first thing. After watching the Ivatt tank on a very early morning photo charter (0630hrs) in M&FM station, the rest of the gang joined them.
Once the usual tea and catch ups had taken place and with the skies brightening up, the gangs were allocated their jobs. Adrian C and Brian Ha walked to Alresford and Pete and Brian Hi walked to Alton to do the track inspections.Corina went off up line to the gradient post under Boyneswood Bridge to finish the white numbers.
Once painted, she went down to Ropley and Alresford to oil the points. Later on Adrian C and Brian joined Corina, where they enjoyed the sun at Alresford Station whilst eating breakfast baps from the West Country Buffet. After this, they met up with Pete and Brian Hi to continue with the fencing down at Chawton. Adrian C proceeded to cut up the trees that had fallen the previous week across the newly strung fence , while both Brian's and Pete tried out the newly made wire dispensing drum, which unfortunately failed. Prototype two needed or it will end up on the next lineside fire!.
A sudden downpour saw the group head quickly to Chawton Heights hut for lunch where waited for it to pass. The gang then continued to string the sixth wire, which involved a lot of patience and brute force due to various tree stumps and tight eyelets, but they eventually completed the task.
Eddie, John, Martin W, Adrian N, and Tony oiled fishplates in the M&FM Station area, and also took the train down to Alresford to finish off the fishplate oiling through Platform 1, which had to be deferred due to the Thomas event.
A good days work done by all.
