A report from our lady correspondent Nora Cliski
A very cold frosty day greeted the gang members. After a warming tea the tasks began.
Brian Hi, Keith H and Corina walked up the line to Alton, and Neil, Adrian C and Adam walked down the line on the track inspections.
Eddie, Martin B, Ian R and Brian Ha went nut oiling up by Hampshire Hut bridge and John M stayed in the yard to do some maintenance on the Cembre impact wrenches.
Once both gangs had returned back to base after catching the Santa services, another cup of tea was needed to warm up. The oiling gang also joined them as it was decided they were getting too old with aching backs to carry on for the rest of the day.
After lunch Adrian C, Corina, Brian Hi, Keith H, Eddie, Ian R and Adam went down to Northside crossing to repair some fencing. Eddie, Adam and Corina walked a little further down to replace a cracked fish plate.
Eddie, Keith H and Brian Ha went then on to Ropley and Alresford to replace some point oiling equipment.
It was then decided to call it a day with the night drawing closer and temperatures dropping.
