Tuesday 3rd December

The information in this report is with thanks to our Southern correspondent, the Hon. J.Y. Doom.

Tuesday morning saw the gang deployed at 'Yew Tree curve' on the Alton section, finishing off the fencing work and doing a bit of bank clearance. This also provided them with the opportunity to enjoy one of their favourite activities, lighting a bonfire, and a load of life expired builders bags and other assorted rubbish were mixed with the cut material to create a fine example of the pyromaniacs' art.

There followed a return to M&FM for tea, and call from Bernie to collect piles of rotten logs from around the yard and burn them, so yet another, larger bonfire was initiated.

After lunch, and the return of the Atlas wagon from ballast dropping duties on the Ropley section, 15 hardwood sleepers were loaded and taken by the Wickham Trolley to Alresford, for sleeper replacement work in the Dock siding the following week. While this took place, the Atlas wagon departed for 'Yew Tree curve' to offload old sleepers for the next new Pway hut project, and gave Norman and Co. a chance to add more material to their bonfire.
