On Monday, the majority of the assembled gang spent the day clearing up the remains of trees felled by Contractors in the Shrave cutting, to the Alton side of M&FM. The material was ferried up the line to Brick Kiln Lane where it was burned. Richard A, Geoff, and Colin meanwhile, took the van up to Southall to liberate some sleepers needed for maintenance work at the Holybourne Oil Terminal, which is programmed to take place in the near future.
The planned activities on Tuesday were briefly interrupted by a call from one of our neighbouring farmers, requesting that a fence was repaired on the upside of the line at Farm Road bridge on the Alresford section, to prevent his cows getting onto the line. This was quickly attended to, ahead of time and budget, allowing the gang to return to Ropley to investigate reports of the country end loop point being difficult to operate from the signalbox. The tightening up of a few slide chair bolts and chair screws, with some of the latter needing helicoil inserts fitted into the timbers, rectified the issue.
