Saturday 15th November

At last, a weekend free of trains and other special events! A gang of five (Eddie, John, Graham, Keith H, and Adrian) arrived at M&FM looking forward to a day of line occupation, and taking advantage of the use of the Wickham Trolley to carry out a number of activities.

Firstly, the Wickham's trailer was loaded with Panloc rail fastenings, which were transported down the line and laid out in the western end of Bishops Sutton cutting. This was followed by a visit to Arleside hut to collect the left over building materials and the BBQ equipment. The latter was offloaded at Northside View hut in readiness for the following years BBQ evening, before heading back to M&FM to drop off the building materials, and pick up another load of Panloc fastenings.

So off down the line again, this time laying out the Panlocs in the eastern end of  Sun Lane cutting, before travelling to Alresford Station for much needed tea and breakfast baps. With energy levels back up to normal, it was up to M&FM via Arleside and Northside View huts to transfer the BBQ tables, then on to Alton. Water barrels and sharp sand were dropped off at the Baigents Copse hut site, and then the Pway trolley was retrieved from Alton Station (left there after the previous Saturday's fishplate oiling) and taken back up to M&FM. The gang were certainly well travelled!

This ended the activities with the Wickham Trolley. Lunch was taken at M&FM before heading down the line to Bishops Sutton cutting, where the afternoon was spent replacing the rail keys with the laid out panlocs. A good effort by all saw the task finished just before the light started to fade, and the track in the whole of the cutting now has panloc fastenings.
