Saturday 8th November

It was the day of the annual Sponsored Walk, and with the associated benefit of the absence of a train service, the initial gang of five (Paul D, Mike, Keith H, Pete, and Adrian) were able to take advantage of the use of the Wickham Trolley as transport for the day's activity. The Wickham was in fact allocated as emergency transport cover for the walkers, piloted by John, who kindly provided the taxi service down to Alton and back at the beginning and the end of the day.

Picking up where we had left off the previous Saturday by Lower Turk Street bridge, a concentrated effort was made to finish off the fishplate oiling through to, and including the Station area and run round loop. Man power was boosted mid morning by the arrival of Neil, Paul C, and Martin R, and with two teams at work, the task was successfully completed by 3pm just before the forecast heavy rain descended.
