Jes Mania out West

Whilst on a recent holiday in the West Country, I did a day on a narrow gauge railway with southern influence. On the Lynton and Barnstaple I was at Chelfham, helping to level and pack the siding which has been laid in the location of the original siding a this station. Well worth a visit on Wednesdays and Sundays.

On a very hot day, shovel packing is so much fun. Also in the image of the station below can be seen the original running in board, the rebuilt westerly platform and the original station with the 1960's extension (soon to be removed)
.

The last view below is of the rebuilding going on at Snapper Halt location where there is a PW hut being rebuilt. We are not the only railway undertaking this work.
