Tuesday 5th July

The gang were blessed with the warm sunny evening they hoped for, for the second round of sleeper changing. Before work commenced however, a quick trip was made down the line in the Wickham Trolley to The Grosvenor hut to drop off the cut paving slabs for the floor. The opportunity was also taken to load and bring back a pile of coping slabs to M&FM which were not no longer needed for the project. While they were down the line, the road/railer flail machine was released from the M&FM yard and headed up the line to Alton for its evening session attacking the bankside undergrowth.

On the return to M&FM, the number of attendees stood at 5, less than the 6 required to safely man handle the concrete sleepers, and thoughts started to turn to alternative activities. The sun does however always shine on the righteous, and an unexpected guest appearance by Steve H to request a favour, resulted in him accepting the 'King's shilling' and he joined the gang for the evening (many thanks Steve!).

Thus the hard work started, and three sleepers were changed before the sextet of tired aching bodies decided to bring the session to a close.
