Glorious conditions greeted the arrival of the gang of 8. Ian J, Keith H and Adrian N headed off on the line inspection to Alton, with Brian Ha, Martin W and Adrian C Alresford bound. Corina went down the line to oil the pointwork at Ropley and Alresford, followed by a trip on the freight train, riding in the newly restored Queen Mary brake van.
John meanwhile stayed behind at base, to prepare for one of the afternoon's activities.
Following the return of the walkers to M&FM, and joined by Eddie and Neil, the gang divided into two contingents. Neil, Ian J, Brian Ha, Corina, Keith H and Adrian C went down to The Grosvenor hut where they cut and fitted the timber seating and the infill timbers above the window, installed access steps with leftover paving slabs, drilled and painted the metal window shield, and strimmed the external areas and adjacent banks.
John, Eddie and Martin W walked down to Ropley, identifying chairs that were in need of new cork pads, and oiled the chair holding down bolt nuts in preparation for pad replacement work in November.
