Tuesday 19th July

The hot weather and resulting rail temperature meant that sleeper changing was not possible, however the assembled gang of 8 nevertheless kept themselves entertained executing a number of other tasks. First on the list was to drop off sand and cement at Chawton Heights hut for the re-pointing of some of the chimney brickwork. This was followed by a trip down the line to The Grosvenor hut, where 12 timbers were loaded onto the Wickham trailer from the pile, and then transported to Sun Lane cutting, Alresford, for use in an extension of the existing retaining wall protecting the signal wires. Martin's B and R were dropped off at Ropley enroute so that the wire running to the down home signal could be cleared of grass using a strimmer.

The return journey to base featured a stop at Northside View hut to retrieve some of the BBQ equipment from the previous Saturday's event. While all of this was going on, Mark and Keith H took the KGT out on the Alton section to do some flailing of the banks.
