Saturday 27th May

A report with thanks to our Southern correspondent, the Hon. J.Y. Doom.........

With a humid start, Ian J and Brian Hi set off Alton bound on the track patrol while Eddie, Martin W, Brian Ha and John prepared to start Fishplate oiling.

John had located a hidden accessory to the Cembre impact wrench, namely a sprung loaded counterbalanced trolley. This had the miraculous effect of releaving the operators back strain! A slight change of operating procedure was required whereby we would process a quarter mile on one side, swap the machine around and work back on the other rail a quarter mile!

We processed about three quarters of mile from the London end of the loop at Medstead to Hampshire Hunt bridge, ending the days work cutting some logs at Medstead.
