The longer inspection was undertaken by Pete, Brian Hi and Adrian N to Alresford, leaving Eddie, Martin W, Tony and Adrian C to go down to the Alresford distant signal to resume fishplate oiling. Tony had purchased an alternative oil dispenser from Aldi at a fraction of the cost of the current one to try out, and it proved to be much better at the job, not having to be taken apart to clean out blockages several times during the course of the day. A close watch will be kept on Aldi's shelves, so that hopefully more can be purchased.
Work progressed at a good pace until around 10am, when a freight photo charter train appeared out of Sutton cutting and then hampered further progress, making several runs from Sun lane cutting up to Arleside hut for the assembled mass of clicking cameras. It was at this point that a decision was made to head to Alresford for breakfast, before returning to a train free track to continue. Keith B had by this time appeared to boost the ranks, and later joined by Adrian N, a sterling effort saw the oiling completed to Sun Lane bridge just outside Alresford Station. One more day should see the section finished, and then on the M&FM to Alton section......
