Faced with a weekend mid -week, I decided that a priority was to head to Medstead to retrieve the strimmer and do a little strimming with the bladed variety (always a favourite of mine) at Northside embankment.
With a lot of wild flowers around still, the object was not a bowling green finish, more a selective cut, in particular the start of the growth of brambles and other veracious growing bushes.
An couple of hours saw a run across the embankment as far as the down Whistle board for the crossing. At this point the bladed strimmer was used to clear the side growth and immediate area around the whistle board, to good effect.
Later, on the way back, across the top of the bank to Ropley, the Down advanced starter was cleared of bramble growth and invading bushes from behind it where the flail cannot reach. An invoice to S & T will be sent shortly.
Well done Jes. When it comes to clearing back encroaching vegetation, all the trackside "furniture" would benefit from the personal touch, rather than be at risk from the flail.
