Monday 25th May

Our western correspondent, Jes Mania, reports.......
Today was a very special day. An anniversary walk to Alton. 30 years ago today the railway opened to Alton, and we on the P/Way have been walking that way ever since. Four members who were involved 30 years ago did the walk today, Steve, Ian J, Pete & Adrian C, the last three in the photo on this blog, were also joined by Neil, Martin R and John.

A celebratory breakfast was taken and enjoyed at the station cafe, also around 30 years ago! For those with staying power, upon returning to Medstead we prepared to depart for the new hut now nearing completion, for an afternoon of work. Tasks for the afternoon included timber staining, the remaining timber battens going on, entrance paving to be built, and a bonfire to help get the site tidied up with the removal of surplus wood and boscage.

Upon returning to headquarters at the end of the day we carried out some preparation work for the first of our evening working parties, starting on Tuesday night. A good day indeed.
