Saturday 30th May

The day promised to be a fruitful one, as in ideal sunny weather conditions a gang of 8 congregated at M&FM. After the usual catch up and refreshments, a  fishplate oiling team of  Eddie. Martin W, John, and Adrian N departed towards Alton on the first leg of the task beyond the Station limits and into the Shrave cutting. This left Pete and Keith H to tackle the  line inspection to Alton, and Iain, Martin B, and Adrian C to head off to Alresford.

On the return to M&FM, the line walkers quickly gathered together tools, and went up the line to the Chawton Heights Pway hut to finish the build and tidy up. This comprised of completing the creocoting of the outside, fitting the final piece of the internal bench seating, and raking over the ground around the perimeter, which was then covered in grass seed. They also lit a bonfire, and burned the remaining pile of timber offcuts.

The oiling gang meanwhile managed to tackle 64 pairs of plates, taking them to Hampshire Hunt bridge. A good effort.
