A gang of seven assembled at M&FM for the day's activities, with Ian J and Keith H departing on the line inspection to Alresford, Pete and Adrian C heading to Alton, and Eddie, Martin W, and John remaining at M&FM to start the next phase of fishplate oiling towards Alton. The Alton inspection team were joined at the Station by Neil and Paul, who had come to the Railway via South West Trains from Newbury and London respectively. By the time the linewalkers returned to base, the oiling gang had managed to complete the platform roads, and were heading down both sides of the loop to the western Station limits.
Following refreshments prepared by Martin R, who had arrived just as the Alton train came into the Station, Neil and Paul stayed to help with the oiling, while the others went to the Chawton Heights hut, which is reaching the final stages of construction. Ian and Keith cut timbers for, and fitted the bench seating inside the hut, followed by sorting through and stacking the massive pile of timber off-cuts strewn across the site. The site certainly looked a lot tidier when they had finished, with a pile of timber to be kept, a pile to be burned, and a fire prepared ready for ignition.

When the hut gang returned to M&FM, the oiling team had completed all of the track in the Station limits, including the first up siding and the start of the second, a great day's work.
