Saturday 20th June

It was the first day of the Railway's War on the Line weekend event, with a team of six gathering at M&FM for the day's activities. With not quite enough manpower to both carry out the line inspections and send out a separate gang out to continue with the fishplate oiling, all set off on the former task, with Iain and Keith H heading to Alresford, and John, Eddie, Martin W, and Adrian C Alton bound.

The latter were met at Alton by Neil (who had kindly oiled the pointwork for them), and then on the return to base by Martin R, who had the tea brewed and waiting (good man). With the return of the Alresford walkers appearing to be delayed, tools were assembled, and the Company transport was taken down to Grosvenor Lane to continue working through and cutting to length timbers for The Grosvenor Pway hut. 

Neil and Martin R set off to undertake another task, that of Creocoting the Northside View Pway hut, where they also hoped to get a good view of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane, as it performed a display over Ropley Station (however unfortunately it was cancelled!).

A good afternoon was had by all despite a few heavy showers, and with the appearance of Iain and Keith, all of the remaining pile of timbers were processed and neatly stacked.
