Today the gang welcomed three new members to the fold, Bill, Brian, and Jamie, who had attended the Railway's Welcome Day on the previous Sunday, and clearly made the right choice of department! With eight in attendance at M&FM early in the morning (including the return of Matt who had recently finished his AS Level exams), Eddie, Martin W, John, and Matt headed off up the line to make an early start on fishplate oiling (also joined by Martin B shortly after), leaving Keith H and Brian to tackle the line inspection to Alton, and Adrian C and Bill to walk to Alresford. The latter were joined at Alresford by Jamie, and following their return to base, they set off with Brian and Keith to join the oiling gang to form a double team operation.
A good afternoon's work ensued, with a total of around 80 pairs of fishplates oiled during the course of the day, finishing just short of Windmill Hill bridge. Another two Saturday's should see the task completed.
