Tuesday 28th July

Our Western correspondent, Jes Mania reports........

This was the 10th summer Tuesday evening working party. Seven turned up, Adrian C, John, Martins W & R Tony, Ian J and Keith H. The replacement of standard life expired rail keys with Panloc fastenings was the planned activity for the session. We departed to Alton, with the plan to  work our way back to Medstead, replacing keys that had fallen out, the three to either side, and those on the opposite side of the track. The use of the Wickham Trolley's trailer was a valuable aid for delivery and collection, and was appreciated by all.

Arriving at the Butts area, five to six complete lengths of track had already had Panlocs installed, and so two remaining panels before Butts bridge, and two recently re-sleepered panels over the main deck of the bridge were changed over for consistency. After some two hours of work we returned to base. A good nights work.
