With 7 people in attendance on this our 6th planned evenings works party, key consideration was given to help clear up the operational issue identified last Saturday with the wire runs/grass growth, to inner home signals, at Ropley and Alresford. With the Wickham Trolley available we sailed forth to Ropley and started to tackle the signal runs to the west of the station. It was not to be a complete success, with two of the strimmers developing faults during the evening, we were left with only two that we could use. By the end of the evening, about 100 metres of bank still required attention. Your scribe returned on Wednesday morning, and 2 hours work with "the beast" saw that task cleared. Just Alresford to deal with now.
The evening work on Tuesday nights have proved a success. Not only do we plan to continue for a while longer, but will return with them next season.
