Our Western Correspondent, Jes Mania reports…… The penultimate evening was again blessed with very good weather. We had the benefit of three engineering vehicles out on the line last night, a true engineering occupation! The roadrailer was out flailing in its last week of the four that it has been with us.
Attending were Adrian C, Ian J, Martin W, John, Keith H & Eddie, who joined us for a while but then departed to work on a MHR related homework project. Keith went into the Alton section in Wickham Trolley No.1 to finish off the weedkilling at Alton Station, closely followed by the roadrailer, who worked up the line through The Shrave cutting. The remainder of us headed off to Ropley to finish of the strimming under the signal wires out to the down advanced starter. Job finally done, but the task is noted for our diaries for next spring. We then returned to the site of the new P/Way hut, The Grosvenor, to move timber offcuts to a newly identified burn site that we will use in this middle section of the railway.
Overall a very good evening, and the whole evening work party process has worked out how we have wanted to see it for a number of years.
